Smart gate automation: choosing the right motor for your entrance
Gate weight is only the starting point. Here is what to consider when planning a reliable automated entrance.

Start with the gate itself
The right sliding gate motor depends on more than a weight rating. Gate length, rolling resistance, track condition, frequency of use and exposure to weather all influence the installation. A gate that is difficult to push by hand should be inspected before a motor is selected.
Our catalogue groups D5 EVO SMART+, D6 SMART+, D10 SMART+ and D20 SMART+ by the gate weights you provided, ranging from up to 500 kg to up to 2,000 kg. These figures are a useful shortlist, not a substitute for an on-site assessment.
Design for daily use
Think about how often the gate cycles, who needs access and what happens during an outage. Safety beams, appropriate controls and a sound mechanical installation matter just as much as motor selection.
For a home, ease of use may be the priority. A busy shared entrance may need a more robust access plan and a careful review of duty requirements.
Make integration part of the plan
Intercoms, remote access and other access-control systems are easier to integrate when considered at the design stage. A site survey helps match the equipment to the actual entrance rather than relying on a catalogue number alone.
