How ANPR and M-Pesa can simplify parking access
A practical look at how number-plate recognition, payment and boom barriers work together at a parking entry.

One connected journey
A parking system can link an entry barrier, number-plate recognition and payment into a single visitor journey. An ANPR camera captures a plate at entry, the parking software records the visit, and M-Pesa can support a payment step before exit, depending on the selected workflow.
The barrier should only respond when the access rules indicate that a vehicle may pass. Keeping these steps connected reduces manual checking and makes entry and exit more consistent.
Choose the lane hardware first
Barrier arm length is a physical site decision. Our Centurion SECTOR II options include 3 m, 4.5 m and 6 m arms; the lane width, clearance, mounting position and vehicle mix determine the right fit. The camera also needs suitable positioning and lighting for useful plate reads.
Plan for exceptions
An effective system needs an approach for unreadable plates, visitors without a registered payment, network interruptions and staff overrides. Privacy notices and sensible access to vehicle records should be considered from the start.
The best deployment is designed around the way the site actually operates, not just the devices at the entrance.
